Join us on the Journey National Express are recruiting an experienced Assistant Operations Manager to join the team at our Fareham location. The successful candidate support the Operations Manager in the day -to-day running of an efficient and reliable coach service through effective leadership, teamwork and control of resources. What you'll do: Management of the overall staff including Holiday, Absence, Training, Disciplinaries and monitoring individual performance Managing operations by planning and coordination of operational functions ensuring they run smoothly and effectively Management of Policies developing and enforcing in line with industry best practices Management of Data and KPIS, overseeing and analysing operational performance to identify trends, improvements and drive decision making Assist with the management of Transport compliance, ensuring the depot complies with company rules, regulations and legal obligations in line with PCV requirements Ensure the network runs in accordance with the Traffic Commissioners guidelines and meets company targets in terms of punctuality and reliability. Ensuring legal compliance across all areas of the business including driver hours compliance, DVSA reporting of incidents Minimise controllable lost mileage on our services Ensure correct processes and practises are in place to achieve optimum performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of the business Providing reports and updates for the Operations manager and senior stakeholders Collaboration with various departments to optimise processes and achieve operations goals Assist with budget planning and cost control measures which impact the P&L Provide support for recruitment campaigns of both driving and other staff roles Attend training and development courses relevant to the role Deputise for the Operations Manager as necessary What you'll need: National CPC Qualification is desired or willingness to work towards the qualification Good understanding of the road passenger transport sector, including all relevant legal and external regulations and requirements for the operation of passenger carrying vehicles Experience in managing and motivating a team to achieve high standards of performance in a unionised environment Flexible approach to working hours – able to attend out-of-hours external meetings on an occasional basis and respond quickly to any “on-call” requirements Thorough appreciation of the needs of external customers and external stakeholders, coupled with the ability to identify areas for improvement and implement effective action plans What we offer in return for your hard work and commitment Free Bus & Coach travel for yourself Complimentary coach travel for a Nominated Person or complimentary bus travel for a Spouse or Partner 50% discount for friends and family on full fares on our coach services Life Assurance Company pension Employee Assistance programme Private online GP service National Express is committed to creating an inclusive workplace that reflects the diverse communities we serve and we positively encourage applications from all sectors of the community.
