We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, pro-active, and committed person to join our small and friendly pharmacy clinical trials and cancer care team.
This role as a senior pharmacy technician will oversee the operational aspects of the clinical trials service, ensuring that processes are followed in line with local standard operating procedures and national regulations to provide a safe, effective, timely and high-quality patient centred service. You will work closely with the clinical trials pharmacists and clinical trials assistant to deliver the service. As part of the role, you will liaise with multidisciplinary teams, commercial and non-commercial companies, the local Research and Development Department, clinical trials units and sponsor companies.
We are looking for someone with a passion in this area of work, with effective communication and organisational skills and demonstrate strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated with a commitment to delivering high quality work with an ability to prioritise their workload.
Main duties of the job
The individual will be an active member of the team and will:
* Manage the day-to-day delivery of the clinical trials service.
* Train Pharmacy staff in clinical trial procedures.
* Oversee monitoring of the quality and storage conditions of clinical trial products.
* Organise, prioritise and delegate the clinical trial workload of the clinical trials team.
* Work as an Accredited Checking Technician undertaking the final accuracy checking of prescriptions, and other dispensing duties.
* Answer/resolve/escalate queries as appropriate.
* Provide system administration of the chemotherapy e-prescribing system.
The successful candidate will work 37.5 hours per week and as part of this role will be required to work on a rota basis to provide a service on weekends and bank holidays.

Person specification
Essential criteria
* GCSE Maths, English and Science (4 GCSE grade C or above min)
* GPhC Registration
* Significant experience in hospital pharmacy environment eg 3 years
* Experience in clinical trials pharmacy practice and procedures
* Accuracy checking qualification or working towards
Desirable criteria
* Current or recent GCP clinical trial certificate
* Working as an accredited checking tech or MMT
