Job Description
Our client is a leading UK-based manufacturer and supplier of LV - HV equipment. With a strong market reputation and a proactive personal and career development program, they are currently seeking an HV Fitter to join their team in the South.
As an HV Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within the site services team and will be responsible for a wide range of duties on substation plant and equipment including:
1. Installation of new HV/LV equipment
2. Refurbishment and maintenance of existing equipment
3. Fault investigation and repair
4. Routine condition monitoring in line with commercial targets
You will draw on your hands-on experience of managing HV assets to work effectively on a range of sites across the region. In addition to working on complex High Voltage equipment, you will also work on all kinds of ancillary equipment such as DC battery systems, air compressors, and diesels. You will be adept at thinking on your feet and reacting to site requirements to find solutions for your clients, following defined maintenance task manuals and upholding our ‘best-in-class’ ethos. You will work well independently and demonstrate your ability to lead and coordinate a team of field service engineers.
You will champion the company brand and help to create a positive working environment for your peers and colleagues. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Installing, refurbishing, maintaining, fault finding, and condition monitoring substation plant and equipment
2. Installation of control and protection equipment
3. Installation of earthing systems
4. Installation of outdoor equipment such as bus bars, disconnectors, and switchgear
5. Maintenance of High Voltage equipment
6. Transformer oil sampling, analysis, and changes
7. Carrying out basic testing such as ‘Ducter’ resistance tests and IR tests
Your Background:
1. A minimum of 4 years in a similar position within the industry or qualified at NVQ Level 3 as a minimum
2. A strong background in Electrical Engineering with a thorough knowledge of switchgear maintenance and installation
3. Experience of working on transmission equipment
4. Competency with Microsoft suites including Word, Outlook, and Excel
5. Knowledge and experience with retrofitting of LV and HV switchgear is advantageous
6. Strong people skills and experience in managing internal and external relationships
7. Ability to read and interpret technical CAD drawings is required
8. Management capabilities and ability to help develop junior project engineers within the team
9. Full UK Driving License is required
