Resident Assistant
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the Operations Manager and the wider team at our student residence at St Peters Court, Nottingham.
Our Maintenance Technicians are responsible for ensuring that a high standard of customer service and maintenance support is provided to our residents.
About the Role:
Working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8am to 6pm (with occasional weekend working during peak times) as a part of a close-knit team, you’ll be undertaking minor reactive repairs and carrying out planned maintenance works which includes painting and decorating, health and safety checks, grounds maintenance, gardening, and refuse & recycling management. You’ll also need to be competent with minor electrical maintenance as you’ll be responsible for the installation of white goods, carrying out visual PAT testing, changing plugs and fuses, emergency lighting checks and replacing lamps and light ballasts.
As we work in our residents’ living spaces, you’ll need to be a good communicator who always demonstrates professionalism and can ensure discretion and diplomacy when needed, including maintaining confidentiality regarding recording sensitive information.
Role Specific Skills and Abilities:
* Experience in a trade – experience of general maintenance support in the following areas: painting and decorating, carpentry, joinery, plumbing, mastic of shower cubicles
* Qualified and competent to carry out minor electrical repairs (18th edition preferred)
* Ability to work at pace whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Good time management
* Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
* Proactive and strong ability to problem solve, multi-task, plan and organise.
* Excellent oral and written communication and customer-facing skills and ability to deal with difficult situations. Proven ability to engage with customers, colleagues and third-party suppliers.
* Ability to manage own time effectively, prioritising tasks when required, multitasking and meeting deadlines. A calm and professional manner, able to work without constant supervision.
* Ability to undertake repetitive heavy lifting with appropriate equipment if necessary.
* A good understanding of business coupled with a professional attitude.
* IT literate, competent user of Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word and FM software)
* Experience in a customer facing role in PBSA would be an advantage.
