Do you have a passion for Religious Education and a vocation for shaping young minds? Do you believe that RE is more than just studying different faiths - it’s about exploring life’s big questions, fostering moral and ethical discussions, and helping learners develop spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally?
If your answer is yes (and you can handle the classic "Did Jesus have a last name?" question with a smile), then St John Fisher Catholic College would love to welcome you to our RE Faculty.
About This Role
As a Teacher of RE, you will:
1. Inspire learners across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 with engaging lessons that explore faith, morality, and the Catholic ethos.
2. Deliver a curriculum that reflects our Catholic values, encourages deep thinking, and helps learners understand the role of religion in today’s world.
3. Foster a respectful and inclusive learning environment, where all learners feel valued, regardless of their faith or background.
4. Support learners in their GCSE and A-Level studies, following Eduqas and AQA specifications, ensuring they achieve their full potential academically and spiritually.
What Can We Offer You?
1. A supportive, faith-driven community where RE is at the heart of the curriculum.
2. A well-resourced faculty, including interactive smart TVs, access to theological texts, and cross-curricular links with other subjects.
3. A chance to enrich spiritual life through retreats, liturgies, and Catholic Social Teaching initiatives.
4. Engaged learners who enjoy deep discussions (and occasionally testing you with "What if Adam and Eve had Wi-Fi?").
5. A strong focus on professional development, including opportunities for leadership within the faculty and across the school.
About the RE Faculty
Religious Education is central to life at St John Fisher Catholic College, helping learners develop their knowledge of Catholicism, other world religions, and philosophical thought.
* KS3: Learners explore the foundations of Catholic faith, sacred texts, and ethical issues, alongside other world religions.
* GCSE: Following the Eduqas Route B specification, learners delve deeper into Catholic theology, religious practices, and moral debates.
* A-Level: Our AQA Religious Studies course challenges learners to think critically about Philosophy, Ethics, and Theology.
What Can You Offer Us?
We are looking for an inspirational RE teacher who can:
1. Deliver engaging, thought-provoking lessons that deepen faith, challenge perspectives, and develop moral reasoning.
2. Promote the Catholic ethos of the school, integrating Gospel values into everyday learning.
3. Support learners in their spiritual, moral, and academic development.
4. Encourage meaningful discussions, critical thinking, and personal reflection.
5. Work collaboratively with colleagues to enrich the school’s faith life, including liturgies, Masses, and retreats.
6. Tackle the big theological questions from learners with patience, humour, and wisdom!
If you are passionate about Catholic education and want to make a real difference in the lives of young people, we would love to hear from you.
Join us at St John Fisher Catholic College and help shape the hearts, minds, and faith of the next generation.
