Our client, a well-established manufacturing business with an ever-increasing order book, seeks to appoint a Health and Safety Manager. Safety is paramount and always the first priority. As the Health and Safety Manager, you will have responsibility for the legal paperwork and compliance side of health and safety, but more importantly, you will be a visible shop floor presence ensuring those standards are enforced.
The appointed Health and Safety Manager will have responsibility for all health and safety activity for a multi-site manufacturing operation. Good communication skills for ensuring cross-department collaboration are essential, along with being computer literate and having experience in health and safety process design and auditing to reduce risks in the future. A genuine passion for Health and Safety and an enthusiasm that instigates change are crucial. It isn't just paperwork for best practice; a larger part of the role is ensuring that best practice is practically implemented and enforced on the shop floor. Passion for health and safety and initiative are key qualities required for this role.
Health and Safety Manager - Role and Responsibilities
1. Design, management, and implementation of all health and safety policies.
2. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures from shop floor to boardroom with a hands-on approach.
3. Carry out audits across a large manufacturing site.
Health and Safety Manager - Skills and Abilities
1. NEBOSH or IOSH qualified.
2. Previous experience working within health, safety, and environment in a manufacturing environment.
3. Experience of auditing.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to bring together cross-departmental teams.
5. PC literate.
