Job Description:
Wheeled Product Engineering (WPE) takes pride in developing machine subsystems for Caterpillar’s Wheeled Mining products. As a Senior Design Engineer within the Articulated Truck (ATK) WPE Engine/Power Installation & Cooling (E/PIC) and Hydraulic Installation (HYI) team, you will be part of the team responsible for the design and development of engine/power, cooling and hydraulic systems installations on Caterpillar Articulated Trucks. In this role, you will be part of a team of engineers in the UK while providing guidance to engineering partner organizations in India, the US, and Romania. Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for all stages of product development including New Product Introduction and Continuous Product Improvement, primarily within Engine/Power and Cooling Installation with occasional support required within Hydraulic Installation. The role will include concept, design, analysis, test, and production support with successful systems meeting all machine level requirements for performance, durability, cost, weight, and manufacturing. The role requires managing complex projects to meet all deliverables on time. You will also utilize and further develop engineering best practices and standard work in our pursuit of Defect Free product.
Top Candidates will have:
* Engine/power installation and cooling (E/PIC) and hydraulic installation specific engineering experience
* Heavy equipment / Industrial machinery engineering experience
* Understanding of Caterpillar New Product Introduction (NPI) process and requirements
* Understanding of Caterpillar Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) processes
* Experience with APQP process discipline
Degree Requirement:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university and demonstrated progressive engineering experience in design, validation, or simulation

• Understanding of diesel engines, cooling systems, and Hydraulic Installation

Product Design and Development:
• Design expertise in using CREO or similar
• Experience performing and interpreting finite element analysis within CREO Simulate or similar
• Product development through the complete cycle including requirements management, design, analysis, test, and production implementation
• Creates new techniques to simplify the development process
• Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex product design and development problems
Analytical Thinking:
• Organizes and prioritizes the sequence of steps to be taken to remedy the situation.
• Identifies many possible causes for a problem based on prior experience and current research.
• Quantifies the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending a course of action.
• Approaches a complex problem by breaking it down into its component parts.
