Safeguarding, Welfare & Attendance Manager – Permanent Role in Basingstoke
A specialist SEMH secondary school in Basingstoke is seeking an experienced Safeguarding, Welfare & Attendance Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a key leadership role within the school, ensuring the safety, well-being, and engagement of students in education.
The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for young people aged 10-16 with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in safeguarding processes, attendance monitoring, and pastoral care, working closely with students, staff, and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead on all safeguarding matters within the school, acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
* Oversee and manage student attendance, identifying concerns and implementing intervention strategies to improve engagement
* Work closely with students and families to provide pastoral support, ensuring every child has access to education in a safe environment
* Liaise with external agencies, including social services, local authorities, and mental health professionals, to ensure the best outcomes for students
* Maintain accurate records of safeguarding concerns, attendance data, and welfare interventions in line with statutory requirements
* Support staff with safeguarding training and guidance, ensuring best practices are upheld across the school
Requirements:
* Experience working in a safeguarding, pastoral, or attendance management role within an educational setting
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practices, with experience as a DSL or deputy DSL
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and external partners
* A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting young people with additional needs
* Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
