Please note, this is a rolling vacancy and we’ll review applications as they come in Job Title: Luminary Room Hire Assistant Based in: Luminary Bakery 47 Chalk Farm Road, London, NW1 8AJ. Please note this role is purely based onsite. Reports to: HR Manager Hours: A range available, including weekends and evenings Salary: £13.54 per hour Job Purpose: To be the onsite coordinator looking after and supporting clients who rent out the rooms within the Luminary Bakery building. This is an ad hoc role and you will be added to a pool of hosts where you can pick up shifts as per your availability. About the role Luminary Limited hires out rooms within our building to help raise funds for the charity. This role will be the onsite coordinator to support the room booking on the day. You will be required to set up the room and welcome the client, be on hand to answer queries during their booking, and clear up/lock up at the end of the booking. You are welcome to do your own work/ study during your shift if you are not needed by the client. Successful candidates will be provided with a full induction and training (you will be paid for the training time). You will then be part of a small pool of hosts who will be offered shifts as they arise. You are free to accept or decline shifts, but once accepted, we do expect you to commit to your shift. Shift timings and pay Shifts will be available at different times depending on the room bookings. Generally, we accept room bookings on weekday evenings from 4pm to 8pm, and on weekends from 9am to 5pm, or 1pm-8pm. The length of bookings vary between 1 hour and 6 hours. This is an ad hoc role and we estimate there will be between 1 and 4 shifts available per month. This is an ad-hoc role on a zero hour contract, and you will be required to submit timesheets at the end of the month. You will be paid on or around the 15th of the following month. We will normally be able to offer at least one week’s notice of any available shifts, and these will be offered to the pool of room hire assistants on a first come first served basis. There may also occasionally be short notice requests based on last minute changes or staff unavailability. Key tasks Preparing the room for the booking: ensuring the room is set up according to the booking instructions, is clean and tidy. We will expect you to be on site and ready to welcome the client in advance of their booking start time. Welcome and the client: showing them to the room, giving a tour of facilities and health and safety features (including toilets, fire exits and assembly points, first aid kits etc.) Support the client to set up the projector if required. Remain on site throughout the period of room hire, being available to answer any questions and support with issues arising. You are welcome to do your own work/study, read, listen to music as long as you are available to the client when needed and you are not disrupting Luminary operations. Ensure the room is cleared and left clean and tidy at the end of the booking, all doors and shutters are securely closed. For room bookings outside normal cafe opening hours, you will lock up the building following all Luminary protocols. If no other Luminary staff are on site, we will ask the client to remain with you while you lock up so that you are not on site alone. Be an ambassador for Luminary, treating all clients and visitors with respect and acting in line with our values and policies at all times. Requirements Reliable: we need to be sure that if you accept a shift you will be there on time and will be available to support the client. Able to work independently with minimal supervision, including locking up the building if required. You will be required to do a DBS check (Luminary will cover the costs), and provide 2 references. Due to the nature of the building and the role, you will need to be physically able to move tables and chairs, and to walk up two flights of stairs.
