One of our Australia studios is seeking for a Lead Environment Artist for our studios in the UK. This position is 100% onsite in one of our offices in Edinburgh, Liverpool or Portsmouth.
As a Lead Environment Artist, you will report to the Art Director and will supervise a brand new multi-disciplinary team to deliver on our client’s requirements for environment art. Client requirements vary depending on the client and project, but a passion for end-to-end AAA environment creation and leading others to success will be core to this role.
Responsibilities
* Lead teams to build cohesive and immersive experiences, from initial block out to final in-game polish.
* Contribute innovative and original ideas towards all aspects of content production.
* Work directly with clients to understand their needs and form a solid working relationship.
* Work with the Project Managers and other leads and artists to develop solid estimates, pipelines, schedules, and production plans.
* Demonstrate, communicate, and exemplify clear expectations for quality of work, productivity, communication, and professionalism to the team.
* Promotes a professional and positive work environment for our team and clients.
* Managed local artists, identifying growth areas and participating in their ongoing career development.
* At least 7 years of industry experience with titles shipped in a similar role.
* An in-depth understanding of next-gen game content development processes, tools, pipelines, scene management, limitations, and dependencies.
* Proven ability to direct the production of AAA quality, next-generation environments/world content in a variety of styles for play on multiple platforms.
* Experience in all phases of production and planning of environments such as block-out, asset lists, assembly, lighting, polishing, and optimization.
* Expertise in constructing levels using Unreal Engine.
* Proactive and self-motivated, work without direct supervision and present the work of the team and the project in a professional manner.
* Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying the project’s vision and specific art direction requirements across multi-cultural teams.
* A passion for creating immersive environments that convey unique and interesting storylines.
* Previous team leadership experience required; having demonstrated the ability to mentor less experienced artists to achieve top quality and consistent results.
