We are partnering with a highly reputable and fast-growing civil engineering and groundworks contractor, renowned for delivering top-quality services across a variety of infrastructure and construction projects. They are now seeking an experienced Estimator to join their dynamic team. Position Overview: As an Estimator within the groundworks sector, you will play a pivotal role in helping to secure new business opportunities by accurately estimating project costs, preparing detailed bids, and assisting in the preparation of tender submissions. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure that projects are cost-effective, delivered on time, and within budget. Key Responsibilities: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for groundworks projects, including but not limited to excavation, drainage, foundations, roads, and pavements. Assess client specifications, technical drawings, and site conditions to determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions. Prepare tender documents, including pricing, risk assessments, and project timelines. Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to gather quotes and ensure accurate costings. Maintain and manage relationships with clients, providing ongoing advice and support throughout the estimating process. Monitor project costs during the delivery phase and offer advice on cost control measures. Key Requirements: Proven experience as an Estimator within the groundworks sector (minimum of 3 years). Strong knowledge of groundworks processes and techniques, including civil engineering works such as drainage, foundations, and roadworks. Experience working with estimating software and Microsoft Excel to produce costings and reports. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications with precision. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously. A strong commercial acumen and ability to build relationships with key stakeholders. A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Desirable Skills: Experience with NEC contracts. Knowledge of current market trends and pricing. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., EstimatorXpress, Causeway, or similar).
