What you'll do As the Healthy and Sustainable Diets Manager at Sainsbury's, you will be responsible for helping to lead and deliver the company's healthy and sustainable diets strategy, ensuring key internal and external health targets and milestones are met. You will help provide nutrition leadership and direction to internal and external partners, act as a voice for Sainsbury’s and help guide our strategic priorities – both the strategy and its implementation – in areas that are often leading and ambiguous. You will be happy to engage across the food system with a variety of trade bodies, not-for-profits and think tanks to help us collectively lead food systems transformation and sector change towards healthier diets. Additionally, you may be asked to lead government health consultation responses – including the internal business engagement on regulatory changes, and support others in the team on research projects, and health-related trials, while identifying opportunities for the business to align with its healthy and sustainable diets ambitions. Your role will also involve owning the development of nutrition policies and standards, working closely with data teams to track progress including reporting against relevant investor benchmarks alongside coaching and mentoring team members as needed. It is a demanding and diverse role where you will have great opportunities across the whole food system so you will be delivering at pace with passion and pragmatism. Who you are You are a highly qualified and experienced professional in nutrition and food science. You will hold a Degree in Nutrition or related science or post – Graduate qualification along with a significant proven track record in the food industry. Your ability to navigate complex projects and legislative frameworks, while balancing scientific credibility with commercial needs, showcases your critical thinking skills and adaptability in delivering evidence-based solutions at pace. You will understand health including national and devolved government priorities and a have a proven ability to apply food laws to nutrition communications and retailing environments. With exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, coupled with a proactive mindset and attention to detail, you lead by example in driving health initiatives and shaping Sainsbury's nutrition policies towards achieving the core value of Good Food for All of Us.
