The Role:
The Digital Architect / Technical Writer will have a strong software engineering background as an integral part of the banking technology team. This role requires hands-on programming experience, a deep understanding of RESTful APIs, and the ability to work closely with solution designers, engineers, and product teams. The Technical writer will be responsible for documenting digital banking architecture, APIs, and integration frameworks, ensuring clarity and usability for internal teams and external partners.
Responsibilities:
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Technical Documentation & Developer Support
* Produce high-quality documentation for APIs, system architectures, and integration patterns to support development and implementation.
* Document RESTful APIs, authentication mechanisms, API versioning, and best practices to ensure accessibility for developers and solution designers.
* Create developer guides, API reference documentation, and coding standards to enhance onboarding and development efficiency.
Architecture & Integration Documentation
* Work with solution designers and engineers to document digital banking architecture, microservices, and cloud-based frameworks.
* Define and maintain standards for API design, security, and lifecycle management.
* Ensure documentation aligns with banking security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
* Engage with backend, frontend, and DevOps teams to ensure documentation accurately reflects real-world implementations.
* Work closely with compliance and security teams to document processes that meet industry regulations (e.g., Open Banking, PSD2, PCI DSS).
* Maintain documentation templates, workflows, and knowledge bases to enhance efficiency and consistency.
Essential Knowledge & Experience:
* Technical Background: Prior experience as a software engineer, developer, or architect (ideally in banking, fintech, or enterprise systems).
* Programming Knowledge: Proficiency in at least one language such as Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript.
* API Expertise: Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, API versioning, and lifecycle management.
* Cloud & Microservices: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
* Technical Writing: Ability to write clear, structured, and concise documentation tailored for developers, engineers, and solution designers.
* Banking & Security Knowledge: Understanding of OAuth, Open Banking APIs, regulatory compliance, and security best practices in financial services.
* Tools & Documentation Platforms: Experience with Confluence, Swagger, Postman, GitHub, Markdown, and API management tools.
* Collaboration & Communication: Ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders, including developers, architects, and business teams.
Desirable Experience:
* Experience in digital banking, payments, or fintech environments.
* Familiarity with gRPC or event-driven architectures.
* Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
* Knowledge of gRPC for inter-service communication is a plus.
