Job summary This is an ideal opportunity for a registered pharmacy technician with hospital pharmacy experience to work within the specialist services of clinical trials and cancer services. The successful applicant will combine working closely with the Research Team and Principal Investigators to support clinical trials within UHN with working on the haematology in-patient ward and the day treatment units to provide medicine management services in line with local and national guidance. Main duties of the job To manage and co-ordinate the Pharmacy aspects of clinical trials activity across Kettering General Hospital for studies involving medicines in accordance with current legislation and Kettering General Hospital standard operating procedures. The post holder will work closely with the Research Team and Principal Investigators. To provide leadership and support to the Pharmacy and research team. To work on the haematology in-patient ward and the day treatment units to provide medicine management services in line with local and national guidance. To engage with ward staff to ensure that all medicines are stored in line with national and local guidelines. To be responsible for the ordering of medicines for the ward, promoting the use of patients own medicines and one stop dispensing for discharge. To clinically screen and validate specific Systemic Anti-cancer Treatment (SACT) prescriptions according to local and national standards, following a period of competency-based training and assessment. To support the nursing staff with medicines administration to reduce missed doses and errors associated with administration. To facilitate discharge ensuring the medicines are available in a timely manner and the patient can take them in the manner intended.
