The Headteacher and Governing Body of Rock Ferry Primary School are looking to appoint an outstanding, passionate and experienced, Cook in Charge to lead our catering team. In post you will be leading a team of 4 members of staff and catering for approximately 300 children a day. Good healthy food, cooked from scratch, and friendly caring service for our pupils is a priority here at Rock Ferry Primary School. You will be responsible for all in-house areas of the catering business and report directly to the School Business Manager. Specific responsibilities and requirements will be to: Ideally you should have 3 years’ experience within a catering environment and ideally hold 706/1 & 706/2 or NVQ2 similar qualification in catering. Plan, prepare, cook and present food to the standard required by the school. Ensure that the school’s mission, ‘to provide freshly cooked food, for all the children, throughout the entire lunchtime service’, is delivered. Control portion size, monitor waste, conduct food rotation and carry out stock takes. Maintain records relating to food production and supplier information. Ensure Health and Safety and Food Safety Standards are maintained. A commitment to maintaining high standards of service, food quality and hygiene is essential. Hold regular team meetings to communicate targets and standards required. Customer Service responsibilities will be to: Ensure all food is cooked, presented and served in line with the school standard; using innovation in the method and style of presentation and food service. Ensure that you deliver what you promise to both your team and the school. Be focused at all times, approachable and ensure that you deliver a prompt and efficient service; a service where expectations are consistently exceeded. Ensure that all agreed service objectives are met, in line with school’s expectations. People management responsibilities will be to: Motivate and lead by example; ensuring you and your team have fun at work and are proud of your efforts. Assess the kitchen teams performance and identify training needs and scope for potential development. Assist in the development of the kitchen team by empowering, supporting and encouraging them and maintaining an ‘open door’ policy. Treat your team as you would expect to be treated.
