English Specialist Teaching Assistant – Full-Time in Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is seeking an English Specialist Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time position starting in November, lasting until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role is £419.25 - £500 per week, depending on experience.
Role Overview:
As an English Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students' progress in English, both in the classroom and through targeted interventions. You will work closely with the English department to ensure students can fully engage with the curriculum and develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting the English teacher in delivering lessons, ensuring all students can access the material and engage with the subject.
* Providing one-to-one or small group support to students who may need extra help with English, focusing on areas such as literacy, comprehension, and exam preparation.
* Helping to plan and prepare learning resources, adapting them to suit the needs of individual students or groups.
* Supporting students in building their confidence and skills in both written and spoken English, encouraging their participation in class discussions and activities.
* Monitoring students' progress and providing feedback to the class teacher, helping to identify any areas where additional support may be required.
* Assisting with classroom management and promoting positive behavior during English lessons and around the school.
* Offering additional support during exams and assessments, ensuring all students are able to perform to the best of their ability.
The Ideal Candidate:
* A strong background in English, either as a recent graduate or someone with a deep understanding of the subject.
* Previous experience working with students, either in a teaching assistant, tutoring, or mentoring capacity, particularly within English.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.
* A passion for education and helping students achieve their full potential in English.
* The ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting the class teacher and other staff to create a positive and productive learning environment.
