NHS Fife Older Adult Community Mental Health Team
The service has a rare and exciting opportunity that has arisen within the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team in East Fife for 2 Senior Community Mental Health nurses. We welcome applications from highly motivated individuals with a background in working with older adults with functional and organic conditions to join the team. These posts will be based at Kinnaird, situated within Stratheden hospital in Cupar.
In applying for this role, you must be a nurse registered with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council.
The registered applicant will be expected to have knowledge of, and experience in, dealing with issues relating to the health and wellbeing of older adults with mental illness. You will engage with patients to help work on their recovery and personal outcomes.
We are seeking a confident individual who has the skills to deal with challenging situations independently in patients’ homes across East Fife and who demonstrates an appreciation of the diversity of the workload. You will hold your own caseload and be expected to complete mental health assessments and implement and evaluate person-centred individualised care plans.
As a Senior Community Mental Health Nurse, you will assist with the supervision and development of junior staff members within the team and support the Nurse Team Leader with delegated managerial tasks. You will possess excellent team working and leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and use your own initiative. You will work autonomously for certain aspects of the post; however, you will be fully supported within a multi-disciplinary team. You will also be expected to provide an Assessor/supervisor role for student nurses and must possess excellent communication skills and be adaptable to change along with evidence of continual personal development.
There is a need to use IT systems such as Microsoft Office and Morse.
Successful applicants will receive a full induction and an opportunity to participate in clinical and nurse line management supervision.
IT IS VITAL THAT THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE CAN TRAVEL ACROSS A LARGE GEOGRAPHICAL AREA IN A TIMELY MANNER.
Working pattern – The service operates within office hours Monday to Friday 0900-1700, although there may be the addition of weekend working in the future.
