The Geotechnical Engineer supports the delivery of geotechnical site investigation and trenching projects across various sectors. Reporting to the Geotechnical Project Manager, the role involves managing technical investigations, designing solutions, mentoring staff, and ensuring projects meet safety, quality, and industry standards.
Responsibilities include:
* Manage geotechnical site investigations (e.g., borehole drilling, sampling, in-situ testing).
* Prepare and review technical reports, burial assessments, and feasibility studies.
* Perform geotechnical analyses and numerical modelling (e.g., using gINT).
* Support complex ground investigations and propose technical solutions.
* Develop risk mitigation strategies and contribute to project planning.
* Lead technical meetings and liaise with clients, contractors, and regulators.
* Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and HSEQ requirements.
* Conduct site visits and offshore work as needed.
* Oversee subcontractors and offshore engineers/lab techs.
* Contribute to tendering, proposal writing, and innovative solution development.
* Provide input on budgeting, risk, and month-end project reporting.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
* Promote and support HSEQ practices across all projects.
* Identify and mitigate HSEQ risks.
* Collaborate with the HSEQ team to prepare and review project documentation.
* Ensure proper storage of documentation and implementation of lessons learned.
Qualifications:
* Strong foundation in soil and rock mechanics, drilling, and foundation engineering.
* Skilled in geotechnical design, modelling, and data interpretation.
* Proficient in software like gINT, PLAXIS, GeoStudio.
* Effective project management and multitasking skills.
* Strong communication, organizational, and mentoring abilities.
* Commercial awareness and understanding of project cost impacts.
