My client situated in Halifax is looking for a Shift Electrician to add to their ever-expanding engineering team.
Purpose of Job - Shift Electrician:
An experienced Shift Electrician working alongside a small production team of 7 covering a 5 shift roster 24/7. Working in an extremely busy manufacturing environment, you will provide electrical expertise to ensure the assets are utilized effectively in order to safely minimize downtime while optimizing costs. You will ensure electrical maintenance duties are carried out across the site.
Duties of a Shift Electrician include:
1. Attending breakdowns
2. Carrying out overhauls on machinery
3. Completing remedial correctives and improving the plants availability
4. Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair system and equipment faults
5. Provide troubleshooting expertise during equipment failure
6. Work to current safety legislation and comply with safety requirements
7. Loading and unloading of engineering materials using a counterbalance truck
8. Willing to work extended hours in a breakdown situation and scheduled shutdowns
9. Configuration of automation, electrical and instrument control systems
10. Ensure breakdown activity is minimized by personal involvement
11. CMMS - support the supervisor in the implementation and development of this system
12. Contribute to and implement planned maintenance schedules
13. Organise, source and recommend spares for purchase and repair
14. Fulfil the duties of Radiation Protection Supervisor (One of 3 RPS)
15. Be available for out of hours call out and provide out of hours telephone support
16. Supervise contractor resources where required
17. Work closely with other departments to identify loss and solutions
18. Operate continuous improvement methods to eliminate persistent problems
19. Perform Root Cause Analysis activity - 5 whys, DMAIC etc.
20. Design, install and commission new equipment
21. Provide electrical & control support to the site project department
22. Investigate, design, write and implement projects that will improve productivity or process reliability
23. Implement best practice with regards to automation and control reliability and new processes
24. Participate in training for completed projects
25. Manage associated documentation and software to ensure it is up to date and available at all times
26. Familiarise yourself and others with the current standards and technological advances
Qualifications and Knowledge - Shift Electrician:
Timed served electrician. You must hold electrical qualification (ie. City & Guilds / BTEC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Excellent Health & Safety knowledge and application.
Computer literate with experience in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition.
Skills and Experience - Shift Electrician:
Experience of working with a CMMS system.
Experience of working alone and on shifts.
Capable of effective prioritisation of tasks and personal time management.
Able to work unsupervised and prioritise their own time and activities.
Have strong analytical skills supporting fast and effective problem solving.
Flexible to work overtime as and when required.
Able to read engineering drawings.
No issue with working at height.
No issues with working in confined spaces.
