HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER – FOOD MANUFACTURING NEW INN, TORFAEN PERMANENT FULL TIME SALARY NEGOTIBALE DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE RSW are looking to recruit an experienced Health and Safety Officer for their client, a food manufacturer based in New Inn. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready progress and make a meaningful impact on our clients’ team and culture. • Inspecting of working conditions and observance of legal regulations and rules of safety and fire protection in the workplace. Keeping relevant parties informed of identified hazards, along with recommendations to address these hazards. • Investigating the circumstances and causes of accidents at work and fire incidents and developing conclusions arising from the investigation of the causes and circumstances of these accidents and occupational diseases, as well as the control of the implementation of these measures. • Record keeping, collection and storage of documentation relating to fire protection, workplace accidents, occupational diseases and suspected cases of such diseases, as well as document retention of test results and measurement of harmful conditions in the workplace. • Participation in the assessment of occupational risk related to the work performed. • Consultation on legal regulations and HSE rules. • Collaboration with appropriate organizational units or persons, in particular as regards organizing and providing adequate levels of Health & Safety and Fire Protection training and ensuring appropriate adaptation and on-boarding of newly recruited staff. • Participating in the preparation of plans for the modernization and development of the company, and formulating proposals to include technical and organizational solutions in these plans to improve health and safety at work and fire protection within the Company. • Promoting a Health and Safety culture within the company. • Conducting training related to the production process with a wide scope, • Assisting preparation of the OJT (On the Job Training) program, • Training of internal trainers related to OJT, • Creating and reviewing instructions related to OJT, • Conducting theoretical and practical training related to OJT, • Onboarding new team members to work positions to ensure safety and the highest quality of work, • Archiving documentation related to OHS and OJT training, • Carrying out daily inspections of workplaces and compliance of the work performed with the developed OJT standards, • Preparing and presenting the implementation of goals related to the OJT program, Qualification: • H&S Qualification preferred • Training Qualification / Experience desirable but not essential • One year of experience in a H&S role in a food manufacturing business in the UK. • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and codes of practice. • Possess and demonstrate passion for the job, the role, and the company • Demonstrate the ability to solve problems • Ability to work effectively in a team. • Proactive and positive work ethic. Working Hours Monday to Friday office hours with flexibility needed to see the shifts (24/7 operations) Benefits • Annual “long service award” of 4% increase of the basic pay each year once you have been for over a year from the anniversary date.
