TowerPros is looking for a technically competent Field Engineer to build, maintain and optimize a sophisticated high performance wireless network.
TowerPros is the dedicated field operations and engineering team for a technology driven trading firm. It is our responsibility to build, maintain and continually optimize a first in class wireless network that rivals the fast-paced evolving landscape in multiple financial markets. This is a position for engineers / rigging climbers that are truly interested in having their skillsets consistently challenged and actively want to learn new skills as the needs of the business grow. What You’ll Do:
1. Ensure site tasks, including planned and maintenance calls, are performed in an efficient manner regarding safe working practices and quality procedures.
2. Ensure compliance with client requirements, standards, and accreditation.
3. Production of sites test data and handover information in a timely manner.
4. Develop relationships with appropriate client representatives including but not limited to, Regional Health and Safety Managers, Quality audit teams, Tech Ops representatives and Project Managers.
5. Obtain and utilize expertise in client technical requirements, specs, systems and working practices.
6. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and QMS Policies.
7. Test and develop equipment pre and post deployment in an on-site laboratory environment.
8. Assist with Goods in and out as required and build BOMs for deployment.
9. Installation of steel structures to towers or other structures to facilitate the installation of telecommunications equipment and antennas.
10. Microwave antenna and equipment installation, path alignment, and troubleshooting.
11. Data Centre, Network Support and troubleshooting with installation and commissioning of equipment during, and out of hours maintenance windows.
12. Other duties as assigned or needed.
Job Requirements:
13. At least 3 years of experience in a similar role working with microwave and millimeter technology.
14. Must hold a valid drivers license with more than 12 months driving experience.
15. MATS registered climbing certificate required.
16. Radio Frequency (RF) Awareness certification required.
17. First Aid At Height certification required.
18. A working knowledge and adherence to HSE Management system at all times, with regards to your role, department, project or site requirements.
19. Meets on call service level agreement (SLA) requirements.
20. Experience with AC and DC power systems.
21. Experience installing fibre optic cable. Experience troubleshooting fiber with OTDR and fusion splicing experience preferred.
22. Experience with various sizes and types of coax cabling from ½” to 1 7/8”; Must be capable of cable termination with various connectors; Troubleshooting with Site master or similar equipment preferred.
23. Basic networking knowledge, to include subnetting.
24. Intermediate knowledge of RF theory / Signal flow.
25. Intermediate knowledge of fiber optics and cabling best practices.
26. Experience using spectrum analyzer preferred.
27. Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office applications and have intermediate to advanced general PC knowledge.
28. Proven ability to maintain clean, safe, and orderly working environments.
29. Must be highly motivated and proactive.
30. Strong analytic and creative problem-solving abilities required.
31. Willingness to take on and learn new tasks, as needed.
32. Flexibility with regards to work priority changes.
33. Good time management.

Physical Requirements:
35. Ability to competently climb all types of structures and towers up to 300 meters if required; Majority of towers climbed are between 40 to 100 meters.
36. Safely operate all supporting equipment, including vehicles, and rigging equipment.
37. Driving of commercial motor vehicles required.
38. Required to be on feet/standing in one place 60% to 100% of the work shift.
39. Rigging – must be able to attach ropes, slings, and pulleys to tower and lift loads up to 700kg with the hoist/winches.
40. Mounting equipment on the tower – Must be able to mount dishes, radios and other tower equipment while suspended in a climbing harness.
41. Loading and uploading rigging trailers and trucks – must be able to lift up to 30kg into rigging trailer or 4 x 4 vehicles. Able to move large spools of cable using correct manual handling techniques.
42. There is a requirement to work a periodic on call Rota (two levels of on call including nights/weekends) and prolonged site works that will require periods away from home.
43. Ability to work outside or inside in hot and cold weather conditions for long periods of time; provided with appropriate PPE for conditions.
Travel Requirements:
44. Deploy from Slough warehouse when on primary call, must be able to park take-home work vehicle.
45. Work sites are in the UK and across Europe – Valid passport required.
The ability to drive TowerPros’ commercial motor vehicles is an essential function of this position. In order to comply with governmental regulations, any candidate for this position will be required to meet all driver qualification requirements and, as such, any offer for this position will be contingent upon TowerPros’ receipt of satisfactory driving records, background check results, drug screening results, and any relevant certifications such as to working at height medical certification, MATS registered climbing certification, and Radio Frequency (RF) Awareness certification and physical results.
