Patients are often living with complex wounds, malignant or fungating that have a devastating impact on the quality of lives. You will play a vital role in supporting them. This is a permanent, part time role, working 30 hours per week. In return, you will receive a salary of £38,644.83 to £46,535.67 pro rata, depending on experience. This role has a working pattern of 7.5-hour shifts, covering the service, 4 days per week. You will be based at the Taunton Hospice, but your reach will be across Somerset and the Inpatient unit. The ability to drive with your own transport is essential to the post but you will also be communicating with patients by video and telephone. What can you expect to be doing? You will be responsible for the comprehensive wound care of palliative patients & those with life limiting illnesses under the care of St. Margarets Hospice. Your day-to-day work will include: Assessing the holistic needs of our patients, enabling them to live well with the complexity of wound type. Working to develop plans of care and have access to a wide range of specialists within the hospice and external partners. Auditing outcome measures and producing quarterly reports. Providing professional input into the wound care formulary and policy We pride ourselves in our standard of excellence in the prevention of pressure damage and healing of wounds even towards the end of patients lives. Your role will be to hold and promote this goal in and beyond hospice care. What will you be good at? You will need: A registered nurse qualification with specialist post-graduation experience. Extensive knowledge of complex wound care and prevention of harm. Ability to deliver education to a wide range of practitioners. To be calm under pressure with the ability to mange and plan your time. Budgetary awareness To be passionate about research in the field of wound care and how it can be used to benefit patients living with complex wounds Excellent collaboration skills Evidence of supporting a team through quality improvement An Independent Prescribing qualification is essential to the role but training can be supported in post. The ability to drive with your own transport is essential. Working to St. Margaret's core competencies and best practice guidelines, you will enhance the lives of patients in Somerset.
