Job Description
Corporation Pop is an award-winning agency with a rich background in the design and development of apps, websites and immersive technology. We’ve been making our clients stand out from the crowd for 30+ years and we do that by pushing the boundaries of creativity through the innovative use of technology.
Work and services:
Our entertainment client portfolio includes some of the UK’s most high-profile music festivals, such as Creamfields, Reading & Leeds and Download, as well as one of the biggest outdoor arts events ever seen in the UK. On the other end of the scale, one of our longest standing clients is an independent arts organisation in south Yorkshire, whose website we’ve managed for over twenty years.
Corporation Pop has worked in the digital health sector for over a decade. Our work includes a mental health support app for healthcare professionals, the digitisation of a chronic fatigue clinic’s service, and an app to identify the signs of postnatal depression. We created a paediatric healthcare platform for kids with a cancer diagnosis, whilst also delivering major pieces of software for some of NHS England’s biggest Trusts.
We’ve also produced immersive games, educational AR and VR experiences for school kids, and more recently a QR code-activated, web-based game which uses gamification to convey what good employment looks like. Take a look at our website, we’re really proud of our work.
The Pop mind-set:
Corporation Pop believes in doing a job well, to the very highest standard, and our Clutch client reviews are testament to that. We’re not interested in a quick buck and firmly believe the work we do is a reflection on our people and our organisation’s principles
We’re a social close-knit team of experts and innovators. We thrive on personal interaction giving each other the space to explore, whilst expanding our collective skill set. A corporate hamster wheel, we are not!
The right candidate:
We’re looking for a Lead Developer with at least 6+ years commercial experience. Someone who is eager to take the next step in their career by combining hands-on coding with technical leadership and architectural responsibilities.
If you are someone who is ready to own the full technical landscape, influence decisions, and grow into a Tech Lead or Architect, this is the perfect role for you. The right person should be a natural problem solver who will get stuck into a wide variety of projects with a brilliant and creative team of developers, designers, artists and project managers.Technically, we’re looking for someone who really knows their onions when it comes to the following:
• Type Script (React, React Native and Node.js).
• SQL (MySQL and / or PostgresSQL).
• API development.
• AWS experience.
It would also be great if you have experience with some of the following:
• Architecting (describe, explain, draw) medium-complexity applications (software and infrastructure).
• Application and infrastructure security.
• PHP (WordPress).
• Managing CI / CD (GitLab preferably) for multiple projects.
• Testing (load-tests, unit-tests, integration-tests and E2E-tests).
• Infrastructure as code / DevOps (Cloud Formation, Serverless, CDK).
• Containerisation and scalability.
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable on the command line, can conduct code reviews whilst assisting and mentoring other members of the dev team. The ideal candidate will be analytical in their approach to understanding clients’ projects, outlining tailored technical solutions that meet their needs and goals.
Don’t worry if you don’t quite have everything, it’s more important you fit into the team well – we can teach skills, we can’t teach attitude.
Benefits:
• Friendly, supportive and highly experienced team.
• Member of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter.
• Relaxed working studio (with private roof terrace) environment for team collaboration.
• Hybrid way of working – we’d like to see you in the studio at least twice a week.
• Up to 30x days holiday – dependent on length of service – plus bank holidays.
• 35x hour working week – we believe in a healthy life / work balance and we don’t encourage overtime.
• Investment in training and development with time allocated to experimental ‘Pop Labs’ projects.
• Ride-to-work, profit-share and referral bonus schemes.

If you like what we’re about, have the relevant experience, and think you fit the bill, send your CV to us at Include a note telling us about you and why you’re right for the job, and give us access to your GitHub account so we can see examples of code you’re proud of.
We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully, welcoming you to our team!
