We are currently looking for an SEM/SCL Shift Engineer Manager to join our team in Toronto, Canada. - Project: subway/tunnel project - Estimated length: 24 months- with the possibility of being extended. In general, when the project ends, we try to place the candidate in other projects to give him/her continuity. - Responsibilities: Conduct daily HSE inspections, implement corrective actions, and halt work if necessary for safety or quality concerns, reporting to the manager immediately. Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and design standards, and promote environmental awareness. Prepare and brief task-specific method statements and risk assessments. Supervise shift engineers and ensure the workforce is well-briefed and equipped to execute tasks effectively. Coordinate the timely delivery of materials and equipment, such as shotcrete, reinforcement, and hauling trucks. Manage sub-contractors and ensure alignment with project goals and standards. Oversee the accurate completion of documentation (excavation, support, reinforcement, pre- and post-pour checks) and QA packages. Ensure adherence to Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and rectify any non-conformances. Review and coordinate as-built survey documentation and maintain comprehensive work records. Attend and contribute to daily excavation meetings and shift handovers. Develop and share "look-ahead" schedules to anticipate resource and program needs. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including management, clients, designers, and suppliers. Verify the accuracy and adequacy of design drawings and specifications before execution. Identify, record, and report changes to project scope or program while maintaining records of additional resources used. Lead testing, sampling, and inspection processes as per the ITP/MAF requirements. Monitor daily activities using trackers to ensure alignment with the agreed program. Maintain proper records of material deliveries, verifying descriptions, quantities, and conditions upon receipt. Organize and promote the use of observation cards to enhance project efficiency and safety. Adapt to additional responsibilities as required by the project's evolving needs. - Requirements/Skills: A minimum of 7 years of experience as a SEM/SCL Engineer Manager in tunnel/railway/heavy civil construction projects or similar. A bachelor's degree or studies in Civil Engineering/Geological/ Geotechnical or similar. Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Expertise in SEM/SCL methodologies and technical proficiency in tunneling projects. Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork in challenging environments. - Working Hours: Monday to Friday: 10-12 hours rotational shifts (days and nights shifts) - Benefits: 22 working days of vacation per year project observed holidays. 5 working days of sick leave (100% salary).
