We are a small RICS regulated firm that provides high-quality estimating and quantity surveying services to subcontractors and main contractors. We work across general civil engineering and rail civil engineering projects. Due to continued growth, we are looking for additional support.

* Adaptability: Understanding different client requirements and interpreting how best to fulfill them is very important.
* Willingness to learn: We seek a consultant who is keen to learn and can apply knowledge to solve problems for our clients. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are valued.
* Experience: We are looking for a consultant with estimating/quantity surveying experience within the UK civil engineering sector, with 2 years+ experience expected. Additional experience in the rail sector would be advantageous.
* Ability to manage own workload: Ideally, the candidate should be able to take schemes from inception/brief through the estimating stage and, if required, carry out post-contract quantity surveying duties to final account stage. Support will be available for these activities.
* Familiarity with contracts: Familiarity with ICC/CECA blue form/NEC/NR forms of contract is important as clients expect us to provide advice.
* Familiarity with measurement methods: Understanding standard methods of measurement predominantly CESMM, RMM, HWMM/SMM/NRM is key, as estimates must align with these structures.
* Estimating skills: Ability to price works from first principles and present in an easy-to-understand format. Knowledge of Causeway estimating software would be beneficial but not essential.
* Construction knowledge: Knowledge of the UK construction sector and the ability to apply this knowledge to generate methodology and programme documents is key.
Projects and clients are generally based in northwest England and Ireland, with visits required to site/client offices. Candidates should be within a commutable distance of Preston.
