An industry acknowledged and award-winning organisation based in Horsham is currently seeking a technically strong Financial Controller to join their business. Reporting to the Finance Director and managing a medium sized team, this is a pivotal leadership role for the organisation and would suit a career focused individual looking to prove themselves.
The successful individual will contribute to the financial strategy of a business and will be pivotal in the development of all internal control policies and procedures in the department. This is a highly commercially focused environment where the SLT rely heavily on this team for accurate and detailed management information and recommendations. It would suit a commercially astute, highly organised individual who is comfortable in a complex group structured business and shows excellent staff leadership abilities.

Duties:
1. Responsible for the management of all day-to-day finance and admin operations
2. Ensure robust team member training and development programs are in place for new and existing staff members
3. Report to the Finance Director with timely and accurate financial statements and information
4. Assist the Finance Director in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members
5. Ensure reporting complies with professional and legal standards
6. Coordinating the preparation of budget and financial forecasting, and reporting any variances
7. Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
8. Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
9. Oversee month and year end closure
10. Responsibility and control of the VAT processing for HMRC
11. Assist the Finance Director with legal reporting
12. Management of the Payroll function and responsible for PAYE reporting
13. Manage process re-engineering to improve effectiveness and efficiency of all finance processes
14. Overseeing the audit process and liaising with external personnel where required
15. Support the business with the financial strategy and decision-making processes
16. Assist the Finance Director with special projects
Candidate requirements:
1. Ideally qualified but qualified by experience or active studiers still considered
2. Excellent technical accounting knowledge including accounting standards
3. Analytical, numerate, and comfortable with complex calculations
4. High prioritisation and organisational skills
5. Exceptional communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels
6. Proactive approach to all aspects of the role – energetic and self-motivated
7. Ability to respond to change in a positive and proactive way
