About Cumberland Council:
As a newly established Unitary Authority, it is an exciting time to join Cumberland Council. Cumberland Council is passionate about creating vibrant and inclusive services for residents and communities, with Health and Wellbeing being at the heart of everything we do. Our central aim of improving health and wellbeing is supported by four key areas: addressing inequalities; local economies that work for local people; environmental resilience and climate emergency; and delivering excellent public services.
Our vision and aim is underpinned by our values: to be compassionate, innovative, empowering, ambitious, and collaborative.
About this opportunity:
The Cumberland Global Resettlement Service (CGRS) is a hosted team directly responsible for the resettlement, integration, and wellbeing of refugees and evacuees arriving in the United Kingdom under ‘safe and legal routes’ via several government schemes. The CGRS also recognizes the support required by people seeking asylum and those who have been granted refugee status by the UK Government following assessment by the Home Office.
Providing suitable and sustainable accommodation to those arriving under these schemes is integral to successful integration into the community. We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate, professional, and knowledgeable Housing and Rematching Officer to join our service and growing team.
The Housing and Rematching Officer will work across all schemes operated and supported by the CGRS, procuring properties for future use through successful partnership working with housing providers and intuitively with private landlords. They will also be directly responsible for supporting those with housing needs across all schemes and help reduce the risk of homelessness in Carlisle.
You should have experience and knowledge of working in a field relating to housing and/or homelessness or similar, but above all else, be committed to supporting some of our most vulnerable and at-risk residents in Cumberland, while demonstrating the core Cumberland Council values throughout everything you do.
This is a unique opportunity to join an ever-developing and growing service which is at the forefront of and responsive to international crises as they happen around the world.
If this opportunity sounds like you, and you resonate with our values, we welcome your application. You can also contact liam.reidford@cumberland.gov.uk for an informal chat prior to your application.
