Job Description
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Welder/Fitter to join an established business, with over 30 years of experience in their industry.
Having developed an excellent reputation for delivering high standards of customer service and technical excellence and a client base comprising of blue-chip companies stretching across the UK, Europe, and further afield, the business is positioned to supply and service the majority of rotating equipment such as centrifuges, pumps, drive shafts, gearboxes, etc.
What we need from you as a Welder/Fitter:
1. A minimum of 3 years post apprenticeship experience (preferably coded MIG, TIG, and hard-facing capabilities)
2. Can read and interpret engineering drawings
3. Be committed to a continuous improvement philosophy
4. Able to maintain a positive attitude towards work and colleagues
5. Flexible approach to work, conscientious and reliable
6. Able to safely drive and hold a valid UK driving licence (capable of using works trucks (non-HGV) for safe delivery of supplies and goods)
7. Able to safely operate a forklift truck (forklift licence preferable)
Desirable:
1. Machine work: the ability to repair and manufacture parts using lathes, vertical drills, milling machines, surface grinders, etc
What the role involves:
1. Carry out safety checks on welding equipment, grinders, etc daily
2. Grind, dress, and prepare component parts for welding
3. Ensure components are welded in line with the quality standard using the best methods appropriate to each job
4. Ensure that all work is signed off appropriately when complete
5. Use an overhead crane and lifting equipment to load and unload component parts and finished goods
6. Assist in other areas, for example, assembly of machinery, balancing work, factory maintenance, and planned improvements when required
7. Comply with the Company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and maintain a safe working environment
8. Maintain housekeeping standards including cleaning tools, equipment, and work area
Salary: £14.74 per hour.
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am - 4.30pm and Friday 8am - 3.30pm. Limited overtime is available, at peak times. *Overtime rates Saturday time and a half Sunday double time Overtime variable when required to fulfil customers’ requirements.
