Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Management: Oversee the Geography department, leading a team of teachers to deliver high-quality lessons that engage and challenge students.
* Curriculum Development: Design and implement an engaging and progressive Geography curriculum that meets the needs of all learners and aligns with national standards.
* Student Progress & Attainment: Monitor student performance through data analysis, intervention strategies, and regular assessments to ensure progress for all students.
* Teaching & Learning: Model outstanding teaching practices and support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and lesson observations.
* Collaboration & Whole-School Impact: Work closely with senior leadership and other department heads to drive whole-school improvement initiatives and promote cross-curricular learning opportunities.
* Departmental Development: Manage departmental resources, oversee the organisation of field trips and enrichment activities, and contribute to staff recruitment and training.
Minimum Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong background in teaching Geography at KS3 and KS4 (experience with KS5 is desirable).
* Previous experience in a leadership role, such as Head of Geography or Second in Department, or a highly experienced Geography teacher ready for a step up.
* A strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment strategies, and data analysis to drive student progress.
* A passion for Geography, with the ability to inspire students and staff alike.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate a team.
