Job Title: Industrial Deafness/Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Pre-Litigation File Handler (KL) Job Description: The Pre-Litigation File Handler will manage a caseload of Industrial Deafness/Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) claims. You will be responsible for handling cases from initial instruction through the pre-litigation stage, ensuring that clients receive high-quality legal advice and that claims are progressed efficiently and effectively towards settlement. Key Responsibilities: Case Management: Manage a caseload of pre-litigated Industrial Deafness and NIHL claims, ensuring cases are handled in line with service standards and client expectations. Gather and review medical evidence, audiograms, and employment records to support claims. Draft and submit correspondence to relevant parties, including defendants, insurers, and medical professionals. Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and offering clear, professional advice on their claims. Assess the viability of claims and manage client expectations throughout the process. Pre-Litigation Process: Liaise with defendants and insurers to negotiate settlements before the need for formal litigation. Draft and issue letters of claim and ensure adherence to pre-action protocols. Assist in the preparation of case files for litigation if settlement cannot be reached during the pre-litigation stage. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all work complies with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and SRA guidelines. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all client interactions, case developments, and key documentation. Collaboration: Work closely with medical experts, barristers, and other legal professionals to strengthen claims. Collaborate with the litigation team if cases move forward to court proceedings. Skills and Experience Required: Legal Experience: Proven experience in handling pre-litigated personal injury claims, with specific expertise in Industrial Deafness/Noise-Induced Hearing Loss preferred. Solid understanding of the personal injury claims process and pre-action protocols. Client-Focused: Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and manage their expectations effectively. Experience in negotiating settlements and working with defendants and insurers. Case Management Skills: Ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritise tasks, and work under tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
