Our nursing team is an integral part of our team taking the lead on QOF and Chronic Disease Management.
Main duties of the job
1. Wound care, dressings and removal of sutures
2. ECGs both routine and emergency
3. Venepuncture and BP measurements
4. Undertake NHS Health Checks or lifestyle checks after appropriate training
5. Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
6. Administer B12 injections and annual influenza vaccinations following appropriate training and annual updates under PSDs signed by GPs
7. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate
8. Assisting GPs with minor surgery and routine tasks related to patient care
9. Participate in other developmental roles as they are introduced with appropriate training and support
10. Other treatment room duties

Job responsibilities
1. Undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction provided by the Practice Nurse and General Practitioners.
2. Assist at clinics ensuring patient care by chaperoning and assisting patients to dress and undress.
3. Provide phlebotomy services for patients as required.
4. Conduct weight and height measurements, test and record blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
5. Test and record clinical specimens.
6. Provide assistance in minor operations ensuring patient care by chaperoning.
7. Take and prepare pathology samples.
8. Undertake ECG and Spirometry testing.
9. Assist with the provision of health checks for both newly registered patients and the over 75s.
10. Carry out routine patient dressings in accordance with practice guidelines.
11. Collect clinical waste, ensuring appropriate storage prior to disposal.
12. Ensure adequate clinical stock levels and medical stationery and maintain an effective stock management system.
13. Ensure adequate stock levels in stock room, treatment rooms, fridges, and cupboards.
14. Check and record medical supplies on receipt.
15. Receive telephone messages in the treatment room, recording and transmitting accordingly.
16. Develop and maintain the themed notice boards within the practice.
17. Input information onto the Practice clinical system.
18. Use the Practice clinical system for patient searches for clinics and patient recall.
19. Ongoing cleaning and sterilisation of clinical equipment and working surfaces, preparing treatment rooms prior to use.
20. Ensure adequate infection control procedures in treatment and consulting rooms.
