Your Role
We are looking for a Debt Recovery Officer to join the Transactional Finance Debt Recovery Team within Finance. This is a new role within the team to provide proactive recovery of adult social care accounts and sundry income, and case manage customer accounts.
The successful candidate will be engaging with residents and businesses by telephone and email to recover outstanding debts particularly for Adult Social Care and other sundry debtors. This involves excellent interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and patience. Training will be provided to optimise customer engagement. Activities include:
* Case work taking ownership to accurately review and maintain accounts.
* Correspond with residents and businesses by email and phone contact (inbound and outbound).
* Set payment plans and achieve fair solutions for debtors to maintain repayments.
* Identifying vulnerability and signposting to relevant support where appropriate.
About You
You will be required to maintain sundry debt accounts. This work will involve liaising with internal and external account holders, particularly Adult Social Care clients and other organisations to ensure that accounts are kept up to date, whilst maintaining a high standard of customer service.
You will have the following attributes:
* Experience of working in a Finance and/or debt recovery environment
* Experience of using office I.T applications including Microsoft Office.
* Experience of analysing data and information to inform solutions and identify inaccuracies.
* Ability to work accurately and to strict deadlines with good attention to detail.
* Ability and confidence to effectively build rapport and deal with a wide range of customers and work well with other team members and services
* Ability to work flexibly to support the team’s core work and other objectives
* Effective organisational skills
* Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate to achieve positive outcomes
* Effective oral, written and presentational communication skills
About Us
The Accounts Receivable and Debt Recovery function form part of the Transactional Finance Team, which consists of Income Management, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable including Debt Recovery. The team are responsible for the recovery of sundry income for the council including Adult Social Care.
