Blesma, The Limbless Veterans is the national charity and membership association for limbless serving and ex-service men and women and their dependants.
We help all wounded servicemen and women who have lost limbs, the use of limbs or eyes, to rebuild their lives by providing rehabilitation activities and welfare support.
Blesma campaigns for our veterans' rights and looks after individuals and their families by offering a comprehensive grants and welfare system. Rehabilitation, support, counselling and care are the four principal foundations of our organisation. Together, we can help our men, women and their families face the challenges ahead with renewed confidence and self-belief.
We are looking for a Volunteer to help the Fundraising Team with office tasks. You will be providing practical, administrative and research support across the team. We’re a small and friendly team operating at a national level. Your work will help provide excellent donor care to our supporters, as well as assisting with the smooth running of our office and fundraising activities.
By volunteering with us, you will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of volunteering for a charity and will contribute to our work supporting injured veterans and their families.
The main purpose of this role is to:
1. Undertake administration tasks to support the fundraising team.
2. Support a variety of income-generation functions, including individual giving, event fundraising, trust and foundations grant-making, legacy marketing, and corporate giving.
Key tasks you may be able to support:
1. Process orders from our online shop, despatching materials.
2. Print and despatch postal mailings.
3. Research new opportunities to partner with community groups and companies, who are the most relevant match for Blesma.
4. Ad hoc research tasks on donor engagement, retention and supporter care.
Skills
Experience required:
1. Excellent attention to detail.
2. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel and Outlook).
3. Good spoken and written English.
4. Initiative and the ability to work independently.
5. A positive attitude to working as part of a small team.
6. An interest in the Armed Forces and/or disability.
7. Previous admin experience.
This is a voluntary position and expenses can be claimed in accordance with Blesma’s expenses policy.
Location: Blesma, The Limbless Veterans – office at 115 New London Road, Chelmsford, Essex CM2 0QT.
This role is not suitable for remote working.
Reports to: Head of Fundraising, with project work managed across the Fundraising Team.
To be agreed with the volunteer, in accordance with availability. It is hoped that the volunteer may be available at least one day a week.
