Newly Qualified Social Worker - (ASYE) 2025
We are seeking to recruit ambitious social workers recently graduated or graduating in 2025 who wish to undertake their Assessed & Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) within Portsmouth City Council Children's Social Care.
The Portsmouth ASYE programme
Portsmouth is a fantastic place to practice and we look forward to supporting you on your journey during the programme, which is supported via the Stronger Futures Academy.
Our 12-month ASYE programme provides 'on the job' training to help you understand and unpick the work you are completing. In addition, we offer monthly half-day study days, funding to purchase your own resources, on-site assessors, peer-led action learning sets, and a comprehensive training programme.
You will have an opportunity to work in one of our Family Safeguarding & Support teams based centrally or in the north of the city supporting children in need of support or protection, or one of our teams for children who need to be in the care of the local authority.
You will be enrolled into the ASYE Stronger Futures Academy: where you will receive dedicated ASYE Academy sessions to support your understanding of the journey & voice of the child, practice sessions to understand and apply models of practice and tools to support you in your work, the benefit of external & internal specialist trainers with additional identified training, and action learning sets and group reflective supervisions with your peers.
We will support you through your first year of practice and continue to progress your social work career in Portsmouth through a dedicated post-ASYE development pathway.
The ideal candidate will have/be
1. A BA, MA, BSc, or Apprenticeship degree in social work (or equivalent gained outside the UK and recognised by Social Work England).
2. Excellent communication skills and a desire to further develop your working knowledge of theory and legislation.
3. A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
4. Demonstrate that you have the Right to Work in the UK.
