Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. The availability of this role signifies a time of great expansion for the business.
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the purchase and sales ledgers as well as recording all financial data from the company for reporting to the directors. The role will involve making payments to our suppliers and following up on sales invoices.
The applicant should have very strong communication skills, a high level of attention to detail, and be accomplished in bookkeeping software and Microsoft Excel. Absolute discretion is required at all times in this role.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the purchase and sales ledgers with complete accuracy;
2. Raise applications and invoices for sales and communicate to our clients, including monthly statements;
3. Handle client and supplier queries regarding finance, directing to the correct person within the company if necessary;
4. Manage payments to suppliers;
5. Manage payroll;
6. Communicate externally and internally via telephone and email to facilitate the role;
7. Create financial reports for the directors monthly;
8. Work alongside our external accountant.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and ledgers;
2. High level of accuracy and care at all times;
3. Exceptional attention to detail;
4. Good communication skills with an articulate manner, able to write concise emails or letters as required, customer service skills;
5. Resilient and able to effectively handle conflicting time-critical tasks and responsibilities, ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines, demonstrating flexibility in approach as well as appropriately escalate issues or concerns;
6. Ability to progress with own tasks, but also work within the team collaboratively; coordinating, assisting and sharing common tasks, such as the Accounts emails, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm;
7. Proficiency in MS Office, in particular Excel, and accounting software;
8. An ability to quickly learn new software is very important to us as we are moving through a period of technology change.
Job Type:
Part-time, 12 hours per week, £16.00 per hour, Office based in Welwyn Garden City.
