The Opportunity: We are seeking a passionate and innovative Geography Teacher to join this forward-thinking school starting in February 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) to contribute to an inquiry-driven approach to Geography at Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching A-Level depending on experience. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver inquiry-based Geography lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, incorporating a range of teaching methods to foster student curiosity and independent learning. Encourage students to ask critical geographical questions, engage in research, and investigate global issues through a variety of perspectives. Promote inquiry-driven learning by designing dynamic lesson plans that allow students to explore geographical concepts in depth and make connections to real-world applications. Regularly assess student progress, providing formative and summative feedback that encourages students to reflect on their learning and pursue areas of interest further. Integrate current events and case studies into lessons, ensuring that students understand the relevance of geography in today’s world and can apply their learning to contemporary global issues. Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills by guiding students through complex geographical challenges and encouraging them to develop their own solutions. Support students in developing independent research skills through project-based learning, fieldwork, and the use of geographical tools and technology. Collaborate with colleagues in the Humanities department to share best practices and develop cross-curricular inquiry opportunities for students. Contribute to the school’s co-curricular activities, including organizing geography-related clubs, field trips, and other experiences that deepen students' understanding of the subject. Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and attendance in accordance with school policies. Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, collaboration, and student well-being. Stay informed about developments in Geography education, adopting new teaching strategies and tools that align with the school’s inquiry-based philosophy. What We’re Looking For: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Experience teaching Geography at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. Strong knowledge of the Geography curriculum, with the ability to teach through an inquiry-focused approach. A degree in Geography or a related subject (desirable). A passion for Geography and a commitment to fostering a love for the subject in students. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage students in inquiry-driven learning.
