Job Description
Are you ready to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the nuclear industry by fostering key relationships and driving innovative solutions? Due to the continued growth and expansion of our Nuclear Team, we are seeking to enhance our technical capabilities on a high profile nuclear project and require to recruit an experienced Senior Engineering Manager. You should have the vision, passion and a strategic technical delivery mindset required to successfully undertake this role. In this critical delivery role, you will be the first point of contact with the client and provide the technical leadership to the project engineering team.
Here's what you'll do:
Engineering Management:
* Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
* Establish and implement effective engineering management processes to guide project delivery.
Project Delivery:
* Manage the design aspects of projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining quality and compliance.
* Act as the primary point of contact for technical and engineering aspects, representing AECOM effectively.
Technical Oversight:
* Ensure engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, analyses) comply with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
* Undertake technical checks of design deliverables in collaboration with discipline leads and ensure alignment with company, project, and client specifications.
Team Collaboration:
* Serve as a key team player in integrated, multi-disciplinary project delivery teams, promoting a collaborative and inclusive environment.
* Lead technical briefings and inspire team alignment on project objectives.
Client Engagement:
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships with a client-focused approach to design and project delivery.
* Prepare and deliver technical presentations to clients and internal stakeholders.
Resource Management:
* Provide accurate estimates and forecasts for engineering resources to meet project needs.
* Monitor team budgets and resourcing requirements to achieve financial and program targets.
Industry Standards and Safety:
* Apply European and American Engineering Standards where applicable and stay updated with industry best practices.
* Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the safety case process in highly regulated environments and implement safety considerations into engineering practices.
Systems Engineering:
* Utilise a solid understanding of Systems Engineering processes to support all phases of the project lifecycle.
* Make informed decisions even in the face of limited or contradictory information.
Continuous Improvement:
* Stay current with advancements in engineering and project management practices, introducing improvements to enhance team efficiency and output quality.
Qualifications
Here's what we're looking for:
* Proven experience in managing engineering teams and high-profile projects.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
* Strong decision-making capabilities under ambiguous or conflicting circumstances.
* Proficiency in design principles and their practical application.
* In-depth knowledge of engineering standards (European and American).
* Expertise in creating and maintaining engineering budgets and schedules.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver technical quality and maintain compliance with all relevant standards and practices.
You will also be self-motivated with an ability to work both autonomously where required, with a strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment.
Desired qualifications
* MEng/BEng in Science/Engineering or Business subject (or equivalent)
* Chartered Professional in relevant discipline (or working towards)
