Join us as a Commissioning Mechanical Test Engineer at our HMNB Clyde site, supporting fleet engineering, facilities management, waterfront services, logistics, and transport within an operating budget, with a focus on continuous improvement in warship and submarine support.
In this role, you will conduct submarine commissioning and testing tasks safely, on time, to specification, and within budget, maintaining close liaison with all stakeholders. Your responsibilities include:
* Applying logical thinking to resolve operational priorities and commissioning requirements.
* Reviewing complex engineering documentation and participating in technical discussions across disciplines.
* Managing multiple tasks, some of which may take several days or weeks to complete.
This position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week, with overtime opportunities (double pay on weekends, time and a half on weekdays). The role is onsite at Clyde, Faslane.
Essential Experience
* Extensive experience with propulsion and ship systems within submarine operations, maintenance, or commissioning, ideally in Naval Marine, Offshore, or Power Generation sectors.
* Knowledge of high-energy systems in safety-critical environments, with a strong focus on Health & Safety principles.
* Proficient in IT systems, including ERP, databases, and MS Office.
* Ability to perform well under pressure and maintain high standards.
* Strong planning, organizational, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Qualifications
* Recognized Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or HNC with relevant engineering experience, or equivalent.
The candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance.
