THE OPPORTUNITY Bennetts are looking for an Application Support Analyst to join our Peterborough based IT team on a full time basis. The Application Support Analysts main role is to analyse production issues in the Bennetts applications estate and propose solutions. Excellent analytical skills will be used to interrogate the different sources of information including databases and infrastructure to fully understand the issues and propose solutions. Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement is key to the role, as is thorough root cause analysis. Good communication skills will be essential to interact with a range of IT disciplines, internal customers, and 3rd party providers. The technology stack at Bennetts includes a legacy application based on a SQL server database, and a range of newer cloud applications. However, there is a major programme of work to review how the company will operate in the future and the associated technologies this will utilise. Therefore, in this role you will start learning the legacy application but will then be introduced to new technologies as these are moved into production. This role offers hybrid working with a requirement to work from the Peterborough office on a regular basis. Responsibilities • Analysing issues, both reported by users and identified by proactive monitoring, within the Bennetts application estate. • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. • Root cause analysis of recurring issues. • Regular monitoring of systems to proactively maximise their stability. • Production of reports and documentation for support processes. • Other ad hoc analysis/projects as and when required. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN YOU • At least three years’ experience in an IT role. • Excellence in data analysis. • Good software lifecycle knowledge. • Basic infrastructure knowledge. • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. • Experience working with corporate databases, ideally SQL Server. • You will have excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, and will be keen to find solutions for complex technical problems. • Good communication skills with the ability to interact with a range of IT disciplines (infrastructure, development, and business operations teams).
