Applications are invited for the above post in the Norfolk Executive Office at OCC Wymondham from both Police Inspectors and non-uniformed persons.
Hours of work: Officer: 40 hours per week / Staff: 37 hours per week
Salary: Inspector £61197 - £66201 / Band F £39813 - £45147
Purpose
The post holder is responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the Chief Constable's office and supporting them in executing national, strategic and operational priorities. They will coordinate communications and manage key relationships across the Constabulary and with external stakeholders. The post holder will act as a trusted advisor and will provide executive-level support.
Main Activities of the Role
* Support the Chief Constable in the development, implementation and monitoring of strategic objectives/delivering exceptional policing for the people of Norfolk.
* Undertake horizon scanning and research to identify risks, opportunities, and key issues which may affect the Constabulary (or as directed by the Chief Constable).
* Manage the preparation of reports and submissions for governance boards, committees, and external bodies.
* Oversee the preparation of speeches, statements, and presentations on behalf of the Chief Constable.
* Support and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, external collaboration partners, and organisations as required to support the Chief Constable.
* Liaise with members of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) as appropriate to ensure effective communication and partnership working.
* Ensure the Chief Constable is well prepared for meetings and public engagements.
* Ensure clear and consistent communications, enhancing engagement with officers, staff, and stakeholders.
* Oversee the day-to-day operation of the executive office, ensuring effective management of time, priorities, and resources.
* Act as a representative for the Chief Constable/Chief Officer team as required.
Person Specification
* Strong attention to detail, tenacious, resilient, and ability to manage a diverse and fast-paced portfolio of work.
* A flexible approach and willingness to perform varying duties commensurate with the role, depending on the shifting needs of the Chief Constable/Chief Officer team.
* A proven ability to analyse and present complex and sensitive information verbally and in writing.
* Discretion and professionalism, with experience of handling confidential matters and high-level decision making.
* Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
* Strong understanding of policing operations governance and accountability frameworks.
* Must be able to demonstrate political awareness and sensitively manage complex organisational issues.
* Excellent communication skills and an ability to successfully work with, and influence, a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at a senior level.
