Key Role Requirements
Ensuring works are carried out within budget with effective cost control measures.
Managing the installation on the project by planning the works within program, resourcing labour effectively and ensuring a quality installation.
Ensure all technical information is available when required for the delivery of design and/or construction.
Prevention and early Identification and resolution of non-conformance.
Effective communication of technical issues between project management, and other functions / support services within the project team.
Application of engineering principles in the preparation of calculations / drawings / sketches and resolution of engineering challenges within specific knowledge areas.
Implementing engineering systems, documentation and controls by compliance with Health & Safety legislation, Company and industry standards.
Checking of drawings/ specifications.
Technical input when required into services, products and subcontractors.
Effective supervision and guidance to less experienced engineering staff.
Key Deliverables and Accountabilities
Safety, Health, Environment & Sustainability (C)
Aware of the Safety Management System (SMS)
Aware of the requirements of the safe working procedures such as confined spaces, hot works etc,
Ensures work is carried out in accordance with safe systems of work, method statements, risk assessments and task sheets. Produces and briefs MS, RA and TS and adheres to the requirements of method statements under which they operate.
Follows safe working practices including wearing personal protective equipment and demonstrates a duty of care to yourself and others
Immediate reporting of technical problems and unsafe situations. Aware of Hazard and Near Miss (HNM) reporting and benefits of this activity.
Dimensional/Spatial Control (C)
Provides dimensional control for a section of the works
Ability and experience of developing off-site fabricated solutions with the digital modelling team and managing outputs from production facilities and suppliers
Undertakes as built surveys for a section of the works and presents results in format that can be included in project records if required.
Establishes and maintains secondary control on the project from primary control.
Checks dimension design data early, raising technical queries to eliminate delays from insufficient information.
Can interrogate and transfer setting out data from 2D Cad data. Able to extract setting out data from the Digital Engineering model directly into setting out instruments.
Workmanship, Quality, Inspection & Testing (C)
Complies with project and company quality procedures.
Understands the specification requirements and how they will be achieved.
Can produce Method Statements for common site operations and ensures that they are followed on site.
Produces and implements Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) that correctly interpret the specified quality requirements.
Raises Non-Conformance Report (NCR) for all non-conformances and reports potential non-conformances.
Collates and files quality records for potential inclusion in quality assurance documentation.
Carries out quality control checks using internal check sheets where appropriate.
Applies the company and external technical information to help achieve the specified quality requirements.
Adopts and promotes a culture of “right first time”.
Provide feedback to supervising engineers / managers on the effectiveness of materials, specialist contractors, plant and designers being used on site.
Information, Change Control & Records (C)
Marks up drawings & specifications with any changes referencing the documentation that verifies the change.
Interprets and abstracts construction information from the drawings and specification and provides this to the supervisors and operatives in a clear and understandable way using sketches.
Interrogate design information and determine if there are sufficient details to construct the works. Raise relevant documentation (e.g. TIEs, TQs, CVIs, etc) with assistance from supervising engineers / managers, to resolve discrepancies and anomalies detected.
Effective communication of technical information to the workforce and liaison with functions/support services within the project team in a timely & accurate manner.
Preparation of basic calculations/drawings/sketches.
Permanent Works Materials, Products, Plant & Systems (F)
Has a Competent understanding of the properties, principles and capabilities of relevant materials, products, plant and services.
Measures materials usage / wastage and provides quantity information for preparation of material call off / requisitions.
Carries out on site testing of materials, products, plant and systems as required by their role.
People Management (C)
Ability and experience in successfully managing and measuring performance against project planned performance outputs
Able to identify own development needs to fulfil current and future job roles.
Familiar with teams/teamwork principles and their role within it. Supports others as needed. Checks team objectives and ensures common understanding within team.
Can communicate clearly with peers and site teams and is comfortable presenting to groups.

Desired
Nuclear sector and/ or regulated environment experience preferred
Recognised industry qualifications in relevant discipline, either trade or academic
Competent ability to read drawings & technically familiar with commonly used construction materials and methods.
Team player actively seeks guidance when required.
Good communication skills both orally and in writing.
Basic understanding/application of H&S legislation.
Assertive and confident to stop any operations that appear unsafe.
