We are seeking a dedicated personal assistant for a cheerful and inquisitive five-year-old boy who lives in Mount Hawke.
He is autistic and requires someone with whom he can build a positive, trusting relationship, while receiving one-to-one support.
A personal assistant will help him safely access appropriate activities both at home and in the local community. The role will focus on developing his integration, interaction, communication, and social skills.
He is currently pre-verbal but can communicate some of his wants and needs by leading his parents and other familiar adults by hand to what he desires. He particularly enjoys outdoor activities and he loves swimming and water-play. Beaches and pools are his favourite places to visit.
The rate of pay starts at £12.00 per hour, plus expenses, with the potential for an increase based on the candidate's skills and experience.
We offer 8 hours per week with flexible scheduling to accommodate the right applicant's availability.
Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs would be an advantage.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
