We are currently seeking two Security Guards to join our Torbay Council Corporate Security Team. This role entails overnight shifts following a rotating shift pattern and attracts night working enhancements.
You will provide professional and effective high-visibility security services at the Leonard Stocks Centre in Torquay, ensuring adherence to house rules both within the facility and in the surrounding areas during overnight hours.
The responsibilities of this role primarily include maintaining the safety and security of both residents and staff, as well as assisting other council departments in managing Torquay's Town Centre and enforcing Local Authority regulatory functions.
This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.

Skills
Essential:
* Effective observation skills with the ability to respond effectively to different situations.
* Ability to remain calm and de-escalate crisis situations.
* Compassion towards individuals who have experienced social exclusion and live with complex and multiple needs.
* Effective communication skills with the ability to use a variety of communication systems and methods to receive and relay messages.
* Good decisions as part of team or independently.
As this post meets the requirements of the Immigration Act 2016 (part 7), the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
Knowledge
Essential:
* Proven ability in gathering, interpreting, explaining, associating and applying information to meet customers’ needs.
* Basic knowledge of locations and streets within Torbay.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Security Industry Qualification (SIA) Door Supervisor.
* Verbal and conflict resolution trained (SIA standard).
* Experience of working within the Security Industry.
