Job Overview
FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a capacity exceeding one million barrels per day in the North Sea. It transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore sources, processes them at Kinneil, and delivers to customers including Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and gas products at Grangemouth.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Rotating Equipment Team Leader, the successful candidate will provide specialist engineering, safety, and technical support related to machinery (rotating) equipment and ancillary systems.
Principal Responsibilities
* Analyze equipment behavior, conduct root cause failure analysis, incident investigations, audits, benchmark studies, and reliability assessments.
* Interpret condition monitoring data to maintain and improve equipment availability.
* Contribute to asset lifecycle management, including remaining life assessments and obsolescence studies.
* Review and approve machinery build sheets and oversee future upgrades.
* Develop and implement improvements in asset and maintenance management, including preventive maintenance and design modifications.
* Define technical specifications for equipment modifications and replacements.
* Provide technical support during troubleshooting and emergencies.
* Train and educate technicians and operators as a technical specialist.
* Engage with external networks to stay updated on technology and best practices.
Special Features
* Support machinery overhauls and upgrades.
* Manage supplier performance and act as the main contract contact for equipment.
* Conduct risk assessments related to equipment safety.
* Participate in machinery commissioning and troubleshooting.
* Possess theoretical knowledge of major machinery types such as compressors, turbines, and pumps.
* Maintain an external machinery network.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
* Minimum 5 years of technical experience in roles related to discipline engineering or maintenance management within refining, petrochemical, or utilities sectors, with specific experience in rotating machinery.
* Familiarity with industry standards.
* Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
* Skills in coaching, influencing, and developing engineers.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
