The post-holders willparticipate in the day-time duties on the neonatal unit, postnatal wards, TCU and Delivery suite, Neonatal Clinics and in the neonatal on-call rota (requests for part-time working would be considered). This additional post is to meet BAPM recommendations for a 1 in 7 neonatal consultant rota, and we would welcome an interest in post-natal care/ATAIN.
The post holder will join 6 consultant neonatologists as the rota moves to 1 in 7. The neonatal unit at Poole (UHD) is part of the TV& Wessex Neonatal ODN and is designated as a Local Neonatal Unit (LNU) and caters to a population of c775,000 people across Dorset and provides neonatal service to about 4400 deliveries/year. We are expecting additional transfers following the redesignation of Salisbury and Guernsey LNUs to SCBUs. There will be a planned contract of 10 programmed activities. Flexible working/part-time applications would be welcomed, though we are required to maintain a 1 in 7 on-call to meet BAPM requirements. We are putting additional consultant time to support maternity and neonatal governance including LMNS and the integration of the MatNeo concept. There is a 3-tier rota with ANNPs and ST trainees/clinical fellows in tiers 1&2, and consultants in tier 3. The post holder will be expected to:

There is a planned move for this service anticipated 2025 when thisrole and base of work will relocate toRoyal Bournemouth Hospital. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder’s home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.

• Provide one ‘hot’ neonatal service week in 7.
• Provide 2-3 neonatal clinics per month, and departmental meetings .
• Participate in the neonatal on call rota: currently 1 in 6 moving to 1 in 7.
· Provide SpR, medical student and ANNP training and teaching including NLS courses.
· Support maternity and neonatal assurance meetings (inc LMNS)
· Support NCEPOD and HSIB investigations.
· An interest in ATAIN/postnatal care would be welcomed.
