Upstream Solutions Group are currently seeking an Experienced Field Service Engineer to join one of our successful clients in the Avonmouth Bristol Area.
Purpose of the Position
To be responsible for the servicing and repairs of a wide range of mechanical handling equipment. The holder of the position will coordinate work with the service office, ensure that repairs are carried out in a timely manner, be responsible for van stock levels, compile relevant quotation information for the service department, sourcing of parts, generating accurate reports and records. Will identify potential opportunities for additional business. The engineer will be the public face of our client and as such will present themselves in a tidy manner; the engineer's van is their responsibility and must be kept clean at all times.
Scope
The Field Service Engineer reports to the Service Manager and is responsible for duties as outlined below. Additional responsibilities to run alongside the Field Service Engineer duties as required.
Hours of Work
Your working contracted week is 41.25 hours. This equates to an 8 hours 15 minute day, excluding your half hour for lunch, which you must take during the middle of your working day. You are required to be at your first call to start work by 8 a.m. Your earliest finish time either at a customers’ site or Solution Depot is 16:45 p.m.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Service and Repair of Forklift trucks to a high standard.
2. Make sure repair specifications are accurately adhered to.
3. Completion of repair tasks within time constraints.
4. Compare the prices of local suppliers of parts and consumables.
5. Complete Service and Thorough Examination reports.
6. Ensure all Van parts and consumable stocks are maintained to agreed levels.
7. Carry out Van stock taking quarterly.
8. Fitting of parts and return of parts as required.
9. Inform service office of developments affecting scheduled work.
10. Ensure correct disposal of Waste oil, filters, rags, scrap and batteries.
11. Ensure you leave the workshop in the condition that you found it.
12. Carry out off hire reports.
13. Pass quote information for repairs to service office.
14. Pass opportunities for additional work to the service office.
15. Source parts to effect repairs.
16. Mentoring of apprentices.
Additional Responsibilities
1. Out of hours call out responsibilities if applicable.
2. Complete witness testimony forms for apprentices after mentoring sessions.
3. Keep service van clean and maintained.
4. Assist other engineers when required, whether this is advice over the phone or with double handed tasks.
5. Kitchen and surrounding area is kept tidy.
6. Yard is kept tidy when disposing of waste materials.
7. Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge
1. Knowledge of Product Range.
2. Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy in all aspects of work undertaken.
3. Good communication and reporting to staff and senior management.
4. Customer facing.
