McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a highly entrepreneurial Top20 Accountancy Practice who are looking for a Corporate Tax Senior to join their growing team in Reading. Reporting to the Tax Director, the role would ideally suit a newly qualified ACA or CTA tax specialist (or Finalist) from a Top100 or Regional Accountancy practice. You will be coaching junior members of the team, preparing corporate tax computations and you should be able to demonstrate strong Tax Compliance expertise, and will get involved in some Tax Advisory assignments.
Key Duties Include:
* Preparing corporate tax returns within agreed service levels and quality standards, calculating tax liabilities and advising clients accordingly.
* Alongside the Director, assist with basic work on UK and cross-border tax advisory projects such as group re-organisations, share transfers, share planning, de-mergers and group creations.
* Generating new leads and winning new tax work where possible.
* Assisting with Partner portfolios of smaller owner-managed businesses through to assisting with UK & Int’l corporate assignments (typically £5m – £100m turnover).
* Dealing with basic UK corporate tax queries on behalf of clients, and preparation of client meeting notes for the Management team.
* Liaising with clients regarding corporate tax matters on the phone and in person, and others in the tax and audit departments.
* Identifying opportunities to increase the client base for the firm and developing cross division work opportunities.
* Identifying changes in UK legislation and how this may impact the firm’s wider corporate tax portfolio.
* Ensuring the quality of corporate tax work is done to agreed cost and timescales.
To be considered for the role you should ideally be in a Top100 Accountancy Practice or Regional Accounting firm, seeking a move to a practice where wider responsibilities and a broader Corporate Tax client base will be made available to you. Therefore, knowledge and experience of reviewing corporate tax computations for OMB/SME businesses, dealing with some basic tax advisory issues and managing a diverse corporate client portfolio is preferred. You should be ACA, ACCA and/or CTA Qualified with some staff coaching & training skills, used to dealing with client business tax issues and decision making. With excellent team working skills and relationship building skills, you should be able to work well under pressure yet still deliver on time and budget.
