Bone Bank Coordinator (including mortuary duties)

To assist in the provision of Bone Bank Services under the direction of the Mortuary Manager and Bone Bank Designated Individual.
To take delegated supervisory responsibility for the Bone Bank Services.
To assist the Mortuary Manager and Bone Bank DI to ensure that HTA statutory requirements are achieved and maintained for the Trust's HTA Bone Bank License.
Main duties of the job
1. To assist in the provision of Bone Bank Services under the direction of the Mortuary Manager and Bone Bank Designated Individual.
2. To take delegated supervisory responsibility for the Bone Bank Services.
3. To assist the Mortuary Manager and Bone Bank DI to ensure that HTA statutory requirements are achieved and maintained for the Trust's HTA Bone Bank License.
4. To ensure high professional standards are maintained within the Bone Bank and to assist with the training and competency assessments of junior staff.
5. To deliver mortuary service duties at Royal Hallamshire Hospital (RHH) and Northern General Hospital (NGH).
6. To provide a comprehensive administrative service for the Mortuary.
7. To act as Mortuary Receptionist.
8. To assist with the booking in and release processes both administratively and practically.
9. To assist with the cleaning and general housekeeping duties within the Dept.
10. To assist Mortuary staff with viewing/identification requests.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* GCSE (or equivalent experience/qualifications) in Maths and English at level C/4 or above.
* Commitment to undertake all on-the-job training, including being trained in the safe removal of hazardous implants.
* Level 4 qualification e.g. NVQ, Higher Apprenticeship or equivalent working experience in mortuary or human tissue bank.
Experience
* Ability to follow and work to Standard Operating Procedures and Policy.
* Experience with a range of Mortuary and tissue banking techniques.
* Previous NHS experience.
Skills and Knowledge
* Keyboard and basic IT skills.
* Have an awareness of Health & Safety issues.
* Effective communication skills, written and oral.
* Evidence of effective time management skills and a methodical approach.
Personal Qualities
* Ability to plan and prioritise allocated work.

Salary: £26,530 to £29,114 a year pro rata for part-time staff.
