To provide technical support and advice to the Estates Manager and Estates Officers on all Estates matters.
Manages tenders, monitors, and administers all maintenance contracts.
Liaises with Procurement and other sites in relation to Maintenance contracts, minor works, and Capital works.
Aids all Estates Officers in procurement and contract matters.
Undertakes Authorised Person responsibilities in relation to specified systems.
Monitors all technical and safety standards and operational policies in accordance with statutory requirements.
Assists Estates Officers in minor capital and revenue improvement works.
Main duties of the job
Familiarises himself/herself with all technological developments on Estates Matters. Disseminates information to the Estates Manager and other Estates Officers as necessary on all matters affecting policy, established procedures, technical development, training, staffing, safety, and continuity of engineering services.
Liaises with other Estates Officers and appropriate Managers on all matters associated with his/her work, which affect the day-to-day running of the Trust.
Contributes to strategic and operational planning of Estates Management.
Assists in monitoring all technical and safety standards in accordance with statutory requirements.
Understand Estates Operational policies with respect to Technical Standards and Safe Working practices, Safety Manuals, and Health and Safety policies.
Assists in monitoring and implementing action plans based on:
1. Safety Action Bulletins and Hazard Notices.
2. Report in to the DOH notifiable defects and failures.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* A minimum qualification of City & Guilds 232 part 2 or 236 or 205-3 or 596-2 or 596-1 plus 599-2.
* Course 205 in Mechanical Engineering Maintenance Part 2 (205-3).
* An equivalent qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in a relevant Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering discipline.
* BTEC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
* Completion of a structured training program in Mechanical Engineering for a minimum of 3 years, at least 2 years post-training site experience, and at least 3 years management experience in a similar position with a background in Mechanical Engineering, equipment or Building services installation, alteration, maintenance, fault finding, and project management.
* Previous experience of working in an Acute Hospital environment.
Additional Criteria
* Good leadership, fault diagnosis, keyboard, and communication skills.
* Ability to work without supervision.
* Adaptable to change.
* Capable of working in a demand-driven service.
* Working to deadlines.
* Knowledge of policies and procedures.
* Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office and BMS systems.
* Technical Standards i.e. HTM, British Standards, H&S.
* Project Management.
