About the Position
Working closely with Triathlon Canada’s High Performance Director, the High Performance Operations Manager is responsible for providing administrative, technical and logistical support to athletes, coaches and staff in the Olympic and Paralympic high performance pathway. The High Performance Operations Manager will be a direct liaison with partners such as World Triathlon, Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES), Sport Canada and Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN). The manager will also act as Team Manager at targeted competitions and camps, including World Championships and Major Games.
Level of Authority
The High Performance Operations Manager will report directly to the Triathlon Canada High Performance Director, working closely and collaboratively with staff within the Olympic and Paralympic programs.
Primary Responsibilities
High Performance Program Operations
* Provide administrative leadership in the delivery of Triathlon Canada’s Sport Canada Athlete Assistance Program (AAP) including policy version control, performance reporting, compliance monitoring and criteria development.
* Collaborate with the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) to oversee the delivery of the Canadian Anti-Doping Program for National Team athletes.
* Manage International Competition Card (ICC) applications and World Triathlon race entries for all Triathlon Canada athletes.
* Manage and maintain Triathlon Canada’s athlete registration and race entries platform to ensure efficient race entry processes and maximize Canada’s quota spot allocation for World Triathlon events.
* Ensure all athletes, coaches and staff maintain eligibility requirements for participating in World Triathlon and Major Games events.
* Liaise with key operations staff at the Canadian Olympic Committee, Canadian Paralympic Committee and Commonwealth Sport Canada to support team planning for Major Games.
* Provide administrative and operational support to high performance staff, Integrated Support Team (IST) practitioners, and COPSIN staff in the coordination of service delivery to athletes.
* Lead the procurement and distribution of equipment, uniform and clothing with Triathlon Canada suppliers to National Team athletes and high performance staff.
* Coordinate all facility access requirements for Triathlon Canada’s National Performance Centre.
* Coordinate all logistics to targeted Triathlon Canada competitions and camps including flights, ground transportation, shipping, accommodation, insurance and facility access.
* Create and distribute Triathlon Canada’s Athlete Guide and Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) for each targeted competition and camp.
* Act as Team Manager at identified events including World Championships and Major Games.
* Collaborate with the High Performance Director and high performance staff in the development of detailed budgets for competitions and camps.
* Coordinate the allocation of accreditations for Triathlon Canada staff at major competition with the oversight of the High Performance Director.
* Collaborate with Triathlon Canada’s Business Operations team to process all financial transactions related to the high performance program.
* Monitor expenditure against allocated budgets providing detailed reports to the High Performance Director that supports effective financial management practices.
* Liaise with key partners, including travel agencies, to develop appropriate cost quotes that support the development of accurate and feasible event budgets.
Policy Development & Stakeholder Reporting
* Maintain all policies and procedures related to the high performance program to ensure the up-to-date application of selection criteria, athlete agreements and codes of conduct.
* Maintain the Triathlon Canada website ensuring the appropriate policy version control is applied.
* At the request of the High Performance Director, complete any stakeholder reporting to partners including World Triathlon, Own The Podium, Canadian Olympic Committee, Canadian Paralympic Committee, CCES and Sport Canada.
Experience and Qualifications
* 3-5 years experience in high performance sport preferably with a National or Multi Sport Organization.
* Undergraduate degree in sports management, kinesiology or a related field.
* Knowledge of the Canadian high performance sport system.
* Team management and logistics experience in a high performance environment.
* Basic understanding of the Major Games event planning and delivery.
* Knowledge and familiarity with World Triathlon points, ranking systems, qualification pathways and race entry processes.
* Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
* Experience planning, monitoring and reporting project financial budgets with a basic understanding of QuickBooks.
* Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and professionally during periods of high stress.
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of coaches, athletes and stakeholders.
* Valid driver’s license required with experience driving in international locations.
Working Conditions
This is a permanent full-time position and includes a competitive benefits package as outlined in the Triathlon Canada Human Resources Policy Manual. The location of the role will be at the Triathlon Canada national office in Victoria, BC; however, international travel will be required for key competitions and training camps. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
